A fertility assessment is usually recommended after 12 months of trying without pregnancy, or after 6 months if the person trying to conceive is 35 or older. Some circumstances warrant earlier assessment.
How assessment works
The clinician may assess ovulation, the uterus and fallopian tubes, and the partner’s semen. IVF can involve ovarian stimulation, egg collection, laboratory fertilisation and embryo transfer; the steps depend on the case.
